About Deeg Palace

The summer palace of the Bharatpur Jats, begun by Badan Singh and finished by Suraj Mal in the 1760s, laid out around a charbagh between two tanks with nearly two thousand fountains. Gopal Bhawan is the main pavilion and still has its furniture; Suraj Bhawan is white marble, and the marble swing was loot from Delhi. The fountains are fed from a rooftop tank and run only for the Deeg fair in Bhadon, roughly late August or September.
