About Deeg Fort
Suraj Mal built the fort in 1730 beside the palace, with a ring of twelve bastions and a moat, and it was the scene of the Battle of Deeg in 1804 when Lake fought Holkar and the Bharatpur forces. Much of the interior is ruinous, but the ramparts can be walked and there is an old cannon on the main bastion. Five minutes from the palace.
