About Dakshineswar Kali Temple

A big temple of Goddess Bhavatarini, a form of Kali, built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni on the east bank of the Hooghly, with nine spires and a big courtyard. Sri Ramakrishna was the priest here, and his room is open for visits. Weekends and festival days are very crowded, so come on a weekday morning. The Belur Math is across the river, and it is easy to see both in a day.
