About National Research Centre on Camel
The ICAR camel breeding and research station at Jorbeer, set up in 1984, eight kilometres out on the Jaipur road. There are several hundred camels of four breeds, a small museum, short rides, and a dairy counter selling camel milk and ice cream. Time it for late afternoon, when the herd comes back from grazing. The Jorbeer carcass dump next door pulls in thousands of wintering vultures and eagles, and birders go for that alone.
What to see and do
- Camel milk ice cream and kulfi
- The herd returning in the late afternoon
- Camel museum and the breed enclosures
- Jorbeer vultures and eagles in winter
- Bikaner Camel Festival each January
