About Brahmayoni Hill
The rocky hill above Gaya that Buddhist texts call Gayasisa, where the Buddha preached the Fire Sermon to a thousand newly converted monks. Some 440 stone steps lead up to a Brahmayoni temple and a narrow cleft in the rock that pilgrims squeeze through. The climb is steep but short and the top gives the widest view of Gaya, the Phalgu and the hills towards Bodh Gaya. Late afternoon is best.
