About Bhitari Gupta Pillar

A red sandstone pillar about eight metres high standing in a field near Saidpur, carrying the inscription of the Gupta emperor Skandagupta from the mid fifth century, which records his victories over the Pushyamitras and the Hunas. Excavations around it found a Gupta temple platform and the Bhitari seal giving the dynasty genealogy. There is nothing else at the site, and nobody about; that is rather the charm.
