About Bahmani Tombs, Ashtur

The Bahmani tombs at Ashtur, 3 km east of Bidar, are a row of twelve large domed mausoleums of the later Bahmani sultans, built between the 1430s and 1520s. The tomb of Ahmad Shah al Wali is the finest, with painted calligraphy and floral work inside the dome. The octagonal Chaukhandi of Hazrat Khalil Ullah stands on the road to the tombs. Go in the morning when sunlight lights the interiors.
