About Yadgir Fort

Yadgir Fort sits on a rocky hill above the district headquarters town, with three lines of walls, water tanks cut into the rock and a Hanuman temple at the top. It was held by the Kalyani Chalukyas, the Bahmanis and the Bijapur Adil Shahis in turn and gave the town its old name of Yetagiri. The climb from the town takes about half an hour on steps. Early morning is best for the views over the plain.
