About Uppada Beach
Uppada is a fishing and weaving village 15 km north of Kakinada, known for a long open beach and for Uppada jamdani silk sarees woven on pit looms in the lanes behind it. The beach road from Kakinada is a popular evening drive and sunrises are good here. The sea is strong and erosion has eaten the shore, so swimming is not advised; buy sarees straight from the weaver cooperatives.
