About Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary

Coringa protects about 235 sq km of mangrove forest where the Godavari meets the sea, the second largest mangrove stretch on the Indian east coast after the Sundarbans. Visitors take a motor boat through the creeks and walk a raised wooden boardwalk over the mud flats to a watchtower. It is 20 km from Kakinada by road, and winter brings pelicans, painted storks and flamingos to the backwaters.
