About Hope Island

Hope Island is a curved sand spit about 16 km long that has grown out of Godavari silt over the last two centuries and now shelters Kakinada Bay, giving the port its natural harbour. Boats from the Kakinada fishing harbour take about an hour to reach its empty beaches, where you see shore birds, fishing camps and the open sea on the far side. There is no shade or water on the island, so carry everything and go with a registered operator.
