About Udai Bilas Palace
Maharawal Udai Singh II began it in the mid-1800s on the shore of Gaib Sagar, in the blue-grey pareva stone that is local to Dungarpur, and his descendants added an Art Deco wing in the 1940s that is now the heritage hotel. The centrepiece is the Ek Thambia Mahal, a one-pillared pavilion carved on every surface, standing in a courtyard open to the sky. The dining room is lined with hunting trophies and 1940s furniture untouched since.
