About Tripura Sundari, Talwara

An eighteen-armed black stone goddess riding a tiger, in a temple at Talwara 19 km from Banswara on the Dungarpur road, counted locally among the Shakti Peeths and for a long time the family deity of Vagad's rulers and half its politicians. The idol is very old; the temple around it has been rebuilt more than once. The two Navratris fill it with pilgrims from Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh as much as from Rajasthan.
