About Tarapur Fort
A Portuguese coastal fort taken by Chimaji Appa in 1739 during the campaign that ended with Vasai. The storming of Tarapur was one of the bloodiest actions of that war. What survives is the outer wall and several bastions, sitting quietly behind the modern town.
