About Takmak Fort
Takmak is little more than ruins wrapped in scrub now, but the walk in through the Palghar hinterland is pleasant and the final section is steep enough to feel earned. Best in winter, when the grass is down and the route is easier to follow.
What to see and do
- Steep final pull to the summit
- Vaitarna basin panoramas
- Ruined gateway and cisterns
- Very rarely trekked
Part of Sahyadri (Western Ghats).
