About Simaria Ghat

The Ganga ghat at Simaria hosts a month-long Kalpwas mela in Kartik, when thousands camp on the sands and bathe daily, a smaller cousin of the Prayagraj Magh Mela. Simaria is also the village of the poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. The Rajendra Setu of 1959, the first rail-road bridge over the Ganga in Bihar, crosses to Mokama here, with a new six-lane bridge beside it. Sandbanks and current are treacherous outside the marked bathing area.
