About Kabar Taal, Kanwar Lake

Asia's largest freshwater oxbow lake, left behind by the Burhi Gandak, spreading over more than 6,000 hectares near Manjhaul in a good year and Bihar's first Ramsar site, listed in 2020. Some 160 bird species have been recorded and winter brings large flocks of ducks, geese and waders. A country boat from Manjhaul at dawn is the way to see it; water levels swing a lot, so ask locally where the birds are.
