About Shahabad Fort
A hill fort above Shahabad on the road to Shivpuri, built in 1521 by the Chauhan chief Mukutmani Dev and later held by the Mughals and Kota. It is known for the huge Navlakha cannon and for its setting on a forested ridge with a rock-cut tank. Hardly anyone visits; the climb is rough and the walls are extensive.
