About Ramgarh Crater and Bhand Devra

A ring of hills three and a half kilometres across near Kishanganj, confirmed as a meteorite impact crater and listed as a national geoheritage site. Inside it stands Bhand Devra, a 10th-century Shiva temple in the Khajuraho manner with erotic carving on the walls, beside a lake. The Annapurna Devi temple on the rim is reached by a long flight of steps and shows the whole ring.
