About Salihundam Buddhist Site

A hill of Buddhist remains on the south bank of the Vamsadhara river, about 18 km from Srikakulam and 5 km from Kalingapatnam. Excavations turned up stupas, chaityas, monastery cells and relic caskets that span roughly the 2nd century BCE to the 12th century CE, along with images of Tara and Marichi. It is an ASI protected site with a short walk up from the road and a wide view over the river mouth.
