About Ramrekha Ghat, Buxar

Buxar was the hermitage of Vishwamitra, and Ramrekha Ghat is where Rama and Lakshman are said to have crossed the Ganga after killing the demoness Taraka. It is the town main bathing ghat, lined with small temples. Each November or December the Panchkoshi parikrama walks five stations round Buxar and ends at Charitravan with a mass cooking of litti-chokha. The river runs fast in the monsoon; stay off the lower steps then.
