About Baba Brahmeshwar Nath, Brahmpur

The most important Shiva temple in the Buxar and Bhojpur countryside, at Brahmpur, 30 km from Buxar, where Brahma himself is said to have installed the linga. The shrine has a black stone linga and a temple rebuilt several times over an old core. Shravan turns it into a kanwar pilgrimage centre, with lakhs walking in with Ganga water from Buxar, and Shivratri brings a fair that goes on for a fortnight. Ordinary days are quiet.
