About Penchalakona

Penchalakona is a forest shrine of Penusila Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in the Velugonda hills, about 60 km west of Nellore near Rapur. The temple sits in a valley beside a stream, and a small waterfall runs in the monsoon months. Pilgrims bathe in the stream before darshan. There is a forest guest house and a few eateries but little else, so carry food. The drive in through the hills is part of the appeal.
