About Papikondalu

The gorge where the Godavari squeezes through the Papikonda hills between Polavaram and Bhadrachalam, with forested slopes rising straight from the water. Day boats leave from launch points near Rajamahendravaram and Pochavaram, stop at the Perantalapalli ashram, and some run overnight to bamboo huts at Kolluru. The hills are part of Papikonda National Park. Trips are suspended when the river is in flood, usually July to September.
