About Neemrana Baori
A nine-storey stepwell a couple of kilometres from the fort, dug in 1760 as famine relief work, and one of the deepest in the region. It was neglected for decades, with the lower flights choked with rubbish, and has been cleaned up in the last few years. Good light comes in the late afternoon. Most fort guests never hear about it.
What to see and do
- Nine flights of steps to the bottom
- Arcaded galleries at each level
- Recently restored after years of neglect
- Ten minutes from the fort
