About Nawa and the Sambhar Shore
Sambhar is the largest inland salt lake in India and Nawa sits on its western shore, the working end where the salt pans, the narrow-gauge salt trains and the brine channels are. Flamingos and pelicans arrive in numbers after the monsoon and stay through winter, and there is a small heritage hotel in the town for those who want a night by the lake. The Jaipur side is busier; this is the quieter approach.
