About Jogeshwari & Mahakali Caves
Jogeshwari is one of the earliest major Hindu cave temples in India, dating to about 520 CE, now reached down a lane between apartment blocks. Mahakali, a few kilometres away in Andheri, is a Buddhist group of nineteen caves. Both are startling reminders of how old the ground under Mumbai actually is.
