About Mainpuri Fort
The seat of the Chauhan rajas of Mainpuri, whose estate held the town from the 16th century and whose Raja Tej Singh joined the 1857 uprising and lost the estate for it. What remains is a walled enclosure with a gateway and the residence of the family, parts of it still lived in, so it is a look from the road and a walk round rather than a visit inside.
