About Lanka Minar
A 210 foot tower built in 1875 by Mathura Prasad Nigam, a Kalpi Ramlila performer who played Ravana and spent 20 years and his savings on a monument to him. Figures of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad stand outside and the walls carry scenes from the Ramayana. Local custom bars brothers and sisters from climbing together, because the circuit inside counts as a wedding round.
