About Kalpi
A Yamuna town on the Kanpur to Jhansi road with more history than it lets on. Birbal was born here, Vyasa is said to have been too, and the Lodi and Sur rulers left the Chaurasi Gumbad, a huge domed tomb with 84 openings. The handmade paper trade goes back centuries and still runs from small workshops. The ghats on the Yamuna are worth an evening.
