About Kshatriya Kund and Lachhuar
Jains of the Shvetambara tradition hold that Mahavira was born at Kshatriya Kund, a shrine in the forested hills about 5 km beyond Lachhuar village, where a Jain temple and dharamshala house a black-stone image of the Tirthankara said to be over two thousand years old. The claim is contested with Kundalpur near Nalanda and with Vaishali, but the setting here, a temple at the end of a forest road, is the finest of the three.
