About Kothaligad (Peth)
Small but unusually clever, the staircase to the summit is carved inside the rock of the hill itself, spiralling up through the dark to a chimney that opens onto the top. The trek is short and easy, and works well as a first fort.
What to see and do
- The spiral staircase carved inside the summit rock
- Chimney exit onto the plateau
- Bhairavnath cave and temple
- Cannon still in place on top
- Views over Peth village and the Karjat valley
