About Kosi Mahasetu, Nirmali
The 1934 earthquake and the Kosi that followed it cut the rail link between Nirmali and Saraigarh, and for 86 years Mithila east and west of the river were joined only by long detours. The 1.9 km rail bridge opened in September 2020 and closed that gap. There is nothing to visit as such, but a train ride across it, or a look from the embankment, is a piece of north Bihar history.
What to see and do
- The 1.9 km rail bridge over the Kosi
- Nirmali to Saraigarh, the link broken in 1934
- Views over the Kosi braid channels
- Asanpur Kupha station
