About Kaup Lighthouse
Kaup is a small town on NH66 between Udupi and Mangaluru whose beach is marked by a 27 m white lighthouse built in 1901 on a rocky outcrop. The tower opens to the public for a couple of hours before sunset and the climb gives a long view of the coast in both directions. Big rocks in the surf make the beach popular for photographs and film shoots but dangerous for swimming.
