About Kalaburagi Fort
Kalaburagi Fort was the first capital of the Bahmani sultanate, strengthened by Alauddin Bahman Shah after 1347. Inside stands the Jama Masjid of 1367, unusual in India because its whole prayer hall is roofed by domes rather than left as an open courtyard. The walls have 26 bastions and a wide moat, and the Bala Hisar keep holds a very large cannon. The fort is in the middle of town and open through the day.
