About Kailasgad
Kailasgad sits on a spur jutting into the Mulshi reservoir, so in a good monsoon you climb with water glinting on three sides of you. Little survives beyond cisterns and a gate arch, but the lake views and the near-total absence of other trekkers more than make up for it.
What to see and do
- Mulshi backwater panoramas on three sides
- Rock-cut water cisterns
- Quiet even on weekends
- Pairs well with a Tamhini ghat drive
Part of Sahyadri (Western Ghats).
