About Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary
A 160 sq km strip of dry deciduous forest along the south and west of Jaisamand lake, declared a sanctuary in 1957 and once the Maharanas' hunting ground. Leopard, chinkara, four-horned antelope and wild boar are here, and crocodiles in the lake. Sightings are a matter of luck without a guide; the birds on the water in winter are the surer thing.
