About Jagdishpur Fort
The seat of Babu Kunwar Singh, the 80-year-old zamindar who led the 1857 revolt in Bihar, besieged the British in Arrah and won a last battle here on 23 April 1858 before dying of a wound three days later. What survives of his fort-palace is a set of brick buildings and gateways round a courtyard, with a memorial and a statue of him on horseback. The state marks Vijayotsav here each 23 April.
