About Gogamedi
The shrine of Gogaji, or Jahar Veer Goga, a Chauhan Rajput of the tenth or eleventh century who became the folk god of snakes and is worshipped by Hindus and Muslims alike; the tomb-like shrine has a Muslim-style dome and Bismillah cut into its gate. The fair from Shravan Purnima through Bhadra, in August and September, peaks on Goga Navami and brings lakhs of pilgrims and a huge cattle market. Gorakhnath's tila is next to it.
