About Dhauli Shanti Stupa

The white Peace Pagoda on the Dhauli hill, built in 1972 by Japanese Buddhist groups together with local ones, above the plain where the Kalinga War is said to have been fought. Ashoka's rock edicts of the third century BCE are carved a short walk away, topped by a worn stone elephant. It is quiet and breezy and best at sunrise or in the evening. It is about 8 km from Bhubaneswar.
