About Chandika Devi Cave Temple
A goddess temple inside a natural cave at Dabhol, and unusually it is kept completely dark. No electric light at all. You go in behind an oil lamp, bent low in places, and the image appears out of the black. It is short and strange and quite unlike any other temple visit on this coast.
What to see and do
- A cave interior lit only by oil lamps
- Low, narrow passage to the shrine
- Dabhol creek and the ferry crossing
- Dapoli beaches within half an hour
Part of Sahyadri (Western Ghats).
