About Champanagar, Banaili Raj
The Banaili Raj was one of the great zamindaris of north Bihar, and its rajas were patrons of Hindustani music and Hindi letters. Their palace at Champanagar, west of Purnia, is still with the family and the Durga Puja held there has been going for generations. It is private, so be polite and ask; Puja week is when it is most open.
