About Bhrigu Ashram & Dadri Mela
The temple of the sage Bhrigu in Ballia town is the seat of the Dadri Mela, held from the full moon of Kartik on the sandy flats where the Ganga meets the Ghaghra, or Saryu, a couple of kilometres east. It is the second largest cattle fair in India after Sonepur, a month of bullocks, horses, Bhojpuri stage shows and a huge bathing crowd on the first day. The sands are river bed the rest of the year and are under water from July to October.
