About Bhismaknagar Fort
The brick ruins of a fortified town of the Chutiya kings, dated to the 12th century and among the oldest built remains in the state, about 30 km south-east of Roing near the Assam border. Excavation exposed a central palace complex, gateways and ramparts of burnt brick with terracotta plaques. Local legend makes it the capital of King Bhismaka, father of Rukmini, whom Krishna carried off. It is quiet and a little overgrown; go with time.
