About Bhimavaram Somarama Temple

The Someswara Swamy temple at Gunupudi in Bhimavaram is one of the five Pancharama Shiva shrines of Andhra Pradesh, said to have been set up by Chandra, the moon. The lingam is believed to change shade with the phases of the moon, and unusually an Annapurna shrine sits directly above the main sanctum. Bhimavaram is a busy aquaculture town on the Vijayawada to Narsapur rail line, and the temple is a short auto ride from the station.
