About Barhaj
A small town on the Saryu (Ghaghra) at the southern end of the district, known for the ashram of Baba Raghav Das, the Marathi-born saint and Congress worker who spent his life here, and for the Kartik Purnima bathing fair on the ghats. The river is wide and fast here and runs high through the monsoon, so keep off the ghats in flood.
