About Arabic & Persian Research Institute
A state institute founded in 1978 to hold the manuscript collections of the Nawabs of Tonk: thousands of Arabic, Persian and Urdu manuscripts, illuminated Qurans, firmans and calligraphy, some of them very old and very fine. A small museum gallery shows the best pieces. It is a working government library, so it keeps office hours and is shut on Sundays.
