About Adoni Fort
A hill fort spread over five granite hills above Adoni town, held in turn by Vijayanagara, the Bijapur sultans, the Mughals and Tipu Sultan before the British took it in 1786. Walls, gateways, water tanks and the Jamia Masjid built under Bijapur survive on and below the hills. Adoni is on the Guntakal to Hubballi rail line; the climb is rough and best done in the cool morning.
