About Aalo (Along)
The old Along, the Galo heartland town where the Yomgo (the Siyom) meets the Sipu, roughly 130 km of hill road up from Silapathar on the Assam side. It is a working district town rather than a resort, with orange gardens on the slopes and a river worth an evening walk. Mopin on 5 April is the time to be here, when the Galo villages around town dance the popir in white. It is also the last real town before the Mechuka road.
