Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, was born in this village on 3 December 1884, and his ancestral house has been kept as a memorial with a few rooms of photographs and personal effects. It is a modest brick house and a modest village, which is rather the point of the man. Twelve kilometres from Siwan; the road is fine.
